I think I’m in heaven
What's Up 4 Comments »Just took this pic at 7:16 tonight from my apartment window on the 4th floor, and omgawsh thank u thank u thank u for undoing daylight savings! Feels wonderful to know that we can ride outside with sunlight until 7:30 now, I can fit so much more into my days, makes me feel so much more energized in the evenings. Pretending to get some work done here, but really just watching the commuters ride their town bikes on the bicycle boulevard in front of my apartment building and it is only now that they are starting to turn on their blinking safety lights.
I think most people came to this realization regarding daylight last week, but me, I am just getting around to it now. Sunshine is good.
How to Attract Girls on a Tropical Island
What's Up 4 Comments »It’s as easy as one two three.
Step 1: Drop chocolate bars behind you when you walk on island trails.
King size works best.
Step 2: Always bring puppies with you when walking on the beach at sunset.
Duh.
Step 3: If all else fails, wear a t-shirt that says “How to Attract Girls on a Tropical Island” and smile real cute. Then you will have the entire ValueAct team falling off their bikes to take pictures of you, even if you are only in second grade.
Of course. It’s not rocket science people, but it might be part of Fig Newtonian Physics.
They thought that we were in our pajamas too, but it’s actually just the new team kit.
Back to the Central Valley
What's Up 7 Comments »Oh gosh I want to do a big post about the Sequoia Classic this weekend in Visalia and Exeter but I don’t got time today. The weekend was awesome, despite some mechanical issues, crashes, and whatnot. The race promoters treat the racers real good, especially the women with some phat prize money, race dinners, and stuff like that.
So Friday the ValueAct girls did a school visit at Golden Oak Elementary. It was also pajama day, so we were kicking it with 600 kids crammed into their pink long johns and giving off whiffs of bubble gum flavored toothpaste. I got two good quotes from the school trip:
“Well he wasn’t actually riding a bike. He was drunk and fell down the stairs. I saw it on TV.” From the 1st grader who wanted to point out to us why wearing a helmet is important at all times, but especially while riding a bike or drinking on the set. She made a good argument.
“I am NEVER washing this hand.” From a 2nd grade boy who just got a high-five from the ValueAct riders. I guess seven year olds are easy to impress. I just hoped he washed his hand at some point prior to the high-five.
Followed by 40 Km of fun fun fun - and it actually was fun. Cuz I got to see all kinds of friends that I haven’t really seen over the winter and get to test out the legs against the field.
And Sunday concluded with a 40 mile crash-terium complete with road rash, gravel, moving bike parts, and international superstars . . . all rolled into one fantastic action-packed afternoon.
Finally: HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISSY RUITER who happens to be an identical twin. And while Chrissy was on the phone with her twin sis, I happened to overhear this from her mouth: “Oh yeah, happy birthday! I forgot.”
