Every year my feelings towards the off season change a little bit. Last year I felt pretty good about it, and I even trained a few days a week. The year before, I was pretty cracked and I couldn’t get enough recovery. This year, I felt indifferent towards the idea of an off season, but I didn’t want the racing to stop. So the last week, I have done pretty much nothing. I have been riding my commuter bike-way too lazy to walk! Yesterday I actually got kitted up to do some skills on my mountain bike, only un-kit myself and go out to practice wheelies on the grass in shorts and running kicks. I have found semi-success in my wheelie skills . . . I can get the front wheel up real good, get in a few seconds of pedal strokes, then I either roll completely backward or my front wheel falls forward again. That delicate balance is almost there, just not quite yet. If I train very hard, then I will be doing one handed wheelies across the finish line. Then Velo Promo will revoke my prize money for recklessness. Oh wait, there is no prize money.

So today here’s what I’m up to:
1. Go to work for a while
2. Come home and talk to the huntress about 2008
3. Paint my nails hot pink

4. Pimp out my rides in preparation for winter training. New saddle here and there, some new cable/housing, a few measurements.

5. Make some healthy foods so I don’t turn into an off season migrating whale.
Oh wait . . . Roman K just tromped in here. He wants to say something.
RK:I had a really fun time at nationals. I just want to thank Matt Martinez for setting up really good nice housing for us. And I just wanted to thank the whole norcal crew for being so fun and supportive.
Back to MP: Does he think he just won a grammy or something? Don’t worry, he just got distracted by fixing a flat tire so his acceptance speech is over.
